Kerala CM redefines criminality
Criminality in Kerala underwent a significant shift in favour of criminals as the Navakerala Sadas program, led by the Chief Minister and his cabinet, approaches its conclusion. The mobile cabinet, traveling in a luxury bus from Kazargode in the north, has covered more than ten districts as part of a quick grievance redressal program, receiving public complaints. The initiative commenced amid severe criticism for issues like corruption , and welfare pension delays etc. The opposition boycotted the program, asserting it aimed to refurbish the government's image before the upcoming parliament election. In Kannur, Youth Congress workers carrying black flags showing protest , were violently attacked by DYFI cadres . Despite live television coverage of the brutal scenes, the Chief Minister justified the violence, praising his party's youth wing for saving protesters attempting to commit suicide by jumping in front of the bus. Despite widespread criticism, he continued justifying their actions, leading to further brutal attacks on protesters by both police and DYFI members in the following days. In Kayamkulam, two protesters peacefully taken into custody by local police were brutally assaulted by the Chief Minister's gunmen using bamboo clubs. The Chief Minister defended this illegal activity, claiming it was within their duty to provide protection to the VVIP. The local police, who initially took the protesters into custody, were surprised by the unexpected actions of the gunmen. This unchecked criminality, endorsed by the Chief Minister's justifications, has instilled fear among ordinary people, sending a disturbing message that party members can engage in criminal activities without consequences, leaving the police powerless.
